World's only temple with Durga Saptashati Yantra near Chennai

Panchetti is located on the Chennai-Kolkatta National highway about 30 KMs from Chennai after crossing Karanodai. The temple is just a few metres away from the national highway.This place was called Pancheshti (Pancha means 5, Ishti means Yagna) in the past and which has got changed to Panchetti. The Siva temple is several years old and goes by the name of Agasteeshwarar, since it is said to have been worshipped by sage Agastya.There is a seperate shrine for Agastya in this temple.

The Siva Linga is svayambu meaning its self generated and not man made.The name of the divine mother is Anandavalli and she is made of green granite facing south.

Specialities:

1) Goddess Anandavalli with 3 eyes and keeping her left foot forward - Beneath her feet is the most famous "Durga Saptashati" yantra. Here the Goddess has taken a fierce form to destroy the evil.

The greatness of Durga Saptashati and Chandi has been extolled in various scriptures and mantras. This could be the only temple in the world with the Chandi Yantra installed. The explanation for the Chandi Yantra and Mantra would take hundreds of pages. But it is enough to say that in destroying evil and granting genuine boons to devotees Chandi takes the first place.

For those who are unmarried worshipping the goddess here with a garland made out of fresh lemons for a period of 8 weeks will remove obstacles and delays in getting married.

2) Ishta Linga has been installed by a disciple of Agastya called Pulastya which fulfills all the genuine needs of a devotee.

3) The temple is full of mystic yantras and images. One can seen the yantra on top of the shrine and the images of Navagrahas and Dwara balas at the entrance - All this making the temple itself a big yantra.

4) The usual Vahana for Saniswara is the crow. But here Eagle is the Vahana instead of crow, which must be having some special significance but which is not known.

5) Lord Muruga takes the creative role of Lord Brahma here which also makes this temple a Mangal Dosha (Chevvai) parihara temple.

6) A very old snake pit can be seen in this temple and people have spotted snakes living it in. It is considered very auspicious if a snake lives inside a temple.

7) This temple is an Annadana Kshetra as per the story of the temple. Annadana is also one of the 5 acts of charity mentioned for all human beings. Performing Annadanam in this temple is considered to be of great merit.

8) Adding to the mysticism of the temple, the temple frequently comes up in the Nadi astrology palm leaves and lot of devotees visit this temple because of it.

श्री अन्दवल्ली समेथा अगतीश्वर मंदिर , नेमिलिचेर्री, क्रोमपेट , चेन्नई में स्थित एक प्राचीन मंदिर है। यह क्रोमपेट रेलवे स्थानक से ५-७ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। इस मंदिर के नाम से यह प्रकट होता है इस यहाँ देवता की स्थापना अगस्त्य ऋषि ने की थी।  इस मंदिर में एक भव्य कुंड है।  मंदिर में आते ही इस मंदिर की भव्यता और उसकी विरासत से परिचय होता है।  यह बात काफी आश्चर्यजनक है इस मंदिर के बारे में बोहोत से स्थानीय लोग भी नहीं जानते।

Sri Ilayanar Velur Murugan Temple, Kanchipuram

It is a 1000 year old Murugan/Karthikeya temple located near Kanchipuram (8 kms from Walajabad and 2 kms from Kavanthandalam). Unlike other Murugan temples where the Lord has 2 consorts - Valli and Devasena, here they appear in a single from called Gajavalli.The village itself gets its name from Vel (spear).

There is a separate shrine for Vel or the spear of Lord Murugan and till date nobody has been able to identify the base of this spear or the depth to which it goes. The is 6 feet tall and is known by the name of Balasubramanya.This temple has been sung by Arunagirinathar in his Tirupugazh.

यह मंदिर एक १००० वर्ष पुरातन है जो कांचीपुरम (वलजाबाद से ८  किलोमीटर की दूरी पर और कावनथंडलम से २ किलोमीटर तक है ) दुसरे मुरुगन मंदिरो से अलग यहाँ देव कार्तिकेय/मुरुगन की दो सहचरियां है - वाली और देवसेना।  यहाँ ये एक ही रूप में है - गजवल्ली।  इस गाव का नाम वेल  (भाला) से पड़ा है।

इस स्थान पर एक तीर्थ स्थल है जो श्री मुरुगन के वेल (भाले) के लिए है और आज तक कोई यह पता नहीं कर पाया है की यह भाला कितनी दूर तक धसा हुआ है।  यह ६ फुट ऊँचा है और इसका नाम बालसुब्रमनिया है।  इस मंदिर के बारे में संत अरुनगिरीनाथर ने तिरुपुगाज़ः में गाया  है।

नौकरी तथा व्यवसाय में समस्याओ से जूंझ रहे लोग यहाँ पूजा अर्पण करते है।

Temple for childless people - Kameswara Shiva Temple,Madavilagam,Madurantakam, Tamilnadu

This temple is located in Cheyyur Taluk, Near Maduranthagam,Chennai. he presiding deity is Lord Tiru Kameswarar and there are shrines for ambaal (Kokilambikai), Vinayaka, Muruga,Sage Vyagrapatha and other deities.  This temple is more than thousand years old and was built by a childless king was later blessed with a child by the Lord. As the name of the Lord suggests(Kama -Eswara), he blesses childless couples. The temple is currently in very bad state and needs serious repairs and maintenance. The main festival of this temple is on Panguni Uttiram.

Directions:

It is 12 kms from Cheyyur  near Maduranthagam, TamilNadu. Bus route is 12A from Mathuranthagam, Share autos are available from Pavunjur via Kalkulam. Other route is via ECR/OMR. From ECR/OMR, go to Kalpakkam from there take Anaikattu route to Kalkulam. Temple is 1 km from Kalkulam.

कांची में स्थित , श्री लक्ष्मी नारायण पेरुमल मंदिर चेन्नई से ८० किमी दूरी पर है। 

माना जाता है की तमिल कवियत्री अव्वायर ने इस गाव का भ्रमण किया और गाव वालो से पीने का पानी माँगा।  गाव के लोगो ने जब उन्हें पानी भी नहीं दिया तह उन्होंने इस पुरे गाव में पानी का आभाव रहे ऐसा शाप दिया। 

इस घटना को कई सादिया बीत चुकी है फिर भी यहाँ पानी के आभाव की समस्या रही।  इस समय एक वैष्णव संत श्री रामानुज यहाँ के ६ वे पुरोहित के स्वप्न में आये और कांचीपुरम में एक विष्णु मूर्ति गड़ी हुई है इसके बारेमे बताया।  स्वप्न के अनुसार संत कांचीपुरम ए और राजा से मिले और मंदिर के लिए भूमि मांगी।  राजा ने नीर्वालुर की न उपजने वाली भूमि दे दी। 

यहाँ पोहोच के संत को गाव वालो के दूध का पता चला और उन्होंने नरसिंह से पानी के आभाव को खत्म करने के हेतु पूजा की।  इस पूजा के आशीर्वाद के रूप में भरी वर्षा हुई। संत रामानुज एक सर्प के रूप में इस संत को मिले और अदृश्य हो गए।  संत ने सर्प के पीछे चलना शुरू किया।  उस स्थान के खुदान के बाद लक्ष्मी नारायण की मूर्ती प्राप्त हुई जो यहाँ सज्जित है।  भरी वर्षा के कारन यहाँ एक तालाब भी बन गया और इसीलिए  नीर्वालुर है , नीर का अर्थ है तमिल में पानी।  इस तालाब को जीयर कुलम कहते है।

क्युकी संत रामानुज ने अहोबिल्ला मठ के संत को यहाँ लाया , इस स्थान को श्री भाष्यपुराम भी कहते है 
(भाष्यकार - श्री रामानुज का एक और नाम है) . अहोबिल्ला मठ ने यहाँ उग्र नरसिम्हा की भी मूर्ति स्थापित की।

पिछली सदी में देवी लक्ष्मी के लिए अलग से आसन बनवाने के बोहोत प्रयत्न किये गए परन्ति देव गाव वालो 
के स्वप्न में आकर यह कहते रहे की वे स्वयं लक्ष्मीनारायण है और अलग आसान व्यर्थ है।  इसके बाद 
कोई और प्रयन्त नहीं किये गए। 

इस मंदिर की देख रेख अहोबिल्ला मठ करता है जो मंदिर के निकट में है।  कांचीपुरम आने वाले यात्रिओ से 
निवेदन है की वे इस स्थान के दर्शन करे।  चेन्नई बंगलुरु राष्ट्रिय मार्ग पर कांचीपुरम से पहले एक पंबम 
नाम के तेल का कारखाना पड़ता है , यहाँ से सीधा रास्ता मंदिर की और ले जाता है।  कांचीपुरम बस स्थानक 
से केवल १२ किलोमीटर पर यह मंदिर है।

Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple, Neervalur, Kanchipuram

Situated in the temple city of Kanchi is the Sri LakshmiNarayana Perumal temple at Neervalur. Kanchipuram. It is around 80 kilometers from Chennai.

This village has an interesting legend around it. It is said that the Tamil poetess Avvayar had visited this village and asked the villagers for water. The villagers refused to provide water to her. She cursed this village that it should suffer from water scarcity.

 Several centuries rolled by but still the water scarcity continued. During that time, the Vaishanava saint Sri Ramanuja appeared in the dream of the 6th pontiff of the revered Ahobila Mutt and told him about an idol of Vishnu which was buried somewhere near Kanchipuram.

 As instructed in the dream, the saint travelled to Kanchipuram and met the king there. When the saint asked for some land for the temple, the king was sceptical and granted the barren land of Neervalur (The name neervalur came to this place much later on) to the saint.

 On reaching Neervalur, the saint understood the problems faced by the village. He prayed to his deity Lord Narasimha to bless the village. His prayers were answered with torrential rains which swept away years of draught. Sri Ramanuja appeared in the form of a snake and came to the saint. The saint followed the snake as it went. It just disappeared at a particular point. When the place was dug out idols of Lord Lakshmi Narayana along with his consorts were discovered. A temple was built in the same place by the saint, thus Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple came into being. The abundant rains resulted in the formation of a huge lake and thus the village got its name as Neervalur (Neer meaning water in Tamil). This huge lake is still there and is called as JeeyarKulam.

Since it was Sri Ramanuja who instructed the Ahobila Mutt pontiff to this place, it is also called as Sri Bhashyapuram. (Bashyakara is another name for Sri Ramanuja). The Ahobila Mutt,Jeeyar also installed a small deity of Ugra Narasimha in the temple.

During the last century, efforts were made to construct a separate shrine for Goddess Lakshmi in this temple. But the Lord appeared in the dream of the people in the village and told that he himself is Lakshmi Narayanan and there is no need for a separate shrine for Lakshmi. After this incident, the locals abandoned their efforts for constructing a Shrine for Lakshmi.

 

This temple is managed by the Ahobila Mutt and the priest stays just next to the temple. It is a must visit for people travelling to Kanchipuram. If we take the Chennai Bangalore highway, just before Kanchipuram, we will see a Pamban oil mill (which is now abandoned). Take the cut near the Pamban mill and the straight road will take you to the temple. It should be around 14 kms from the Kanchipuram city bus stand
